Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity annual fundraiser raises $100,000 for affordable housing in the Black Hills
Rapid City, SD (Sept. 21, 2023) – The annual Hearts for Habitat Fundraising Dinner and Auction, hosted by Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity, returned in 2023 with renowned actor, Jeff Kingsbury, Development Director of Black Hills Playhouse at the helm. The event took place on Thursday, September 21, at the Holiday Inn Rapid City Downtown.
Approximately 300 guests attended the event, which included live music, a live auction, and the ever-popular dessert dash. They were treated with a Home is the Key video: https://youtu.be/VTdz6JpUhUU
Guests joined in raising their paddles and contributing funds to provide the strength, stability, and self-reliance that comes from affordable home ownership. The event raised around $100,000.
“This was a fun and engaging evening addressing the affordable housing crisis in the Black Hills,” said Scott Engmann, Black Hills Area Habitat’s Executive Director.
“Without the commitment and dedication of committee members, sponsors and guests who attend Hearts for Habitat, the impact of this event wouldn’t be what it is. It’s great to see so many dedicated people in our community come together for a fun night to celebrate those going through the Habitat housing program and look for ways to solve the affordable housing crisis,” said Kenzie Oswald, Resource Development Administrator.
A special thank you to the Hearts for Habitat event committee, BankWest, Black Hills Energy, Courtesy Subaru, Dr. Deborah Kullerd and Michael Alley, First Interstate Bank, Holiday Inn Rapid City Downtown, John Bedingfield, MD, Knecht Home Center, Monument Health, RainTite Roofing & Construction, Rangel Construction Company, RCS Construction Inc., Renewal by Andersen, Security First Bank, Shauna Sheets Realtor at the Kahler Team and TruStage for making this year’s event possible.
Since the Hearts for Habitat fundraiser began in 2019, it has successfully raised over $360,000 to support the construction of affordable homes in the Black Hills.
